This is amazing! I love the idea and the photos very much. A lot of the links don't work though which is disappointing. The photography is so original and interesting. Brilliant!

Not only is this a terrific song by the group, Gorillaz, but it also a terrific piece of multimedia journalism. This piece had a slightly comedic undertone, but this was completely overshadowed by the dark, war-torn sense of reality that was chosen as the lens for this piece. The added sound effects were priceless and it made it seem more like a scene from Saving Private Ryan than a bunch of children running around playing war games with plastic guns. Point blank, these kids were really serious. This provided an interesting piece of social commentary on the way in which children view violence, understand the concept of war and the time in which we live in. Sure, children have been playing with toy guns since the gun has existed, but in a world where we constantly question the moral reality behind violence in the media and the effect that it has on children, this piece has a lasting effect. One has to wonder how much of this is play and how much of this is the result of cultivation from the media. It is the "mean world syndrome" brought home.

This made this all very real for me. We are all very used to seeing war footage on our TV screens, but this war footage lacks the commentary and human connection that you find in a piece such as this, where the soldiers can be intimately heard. Having this paired with the images of the ambush made this a very compelling piece and it tells the story in a way that is impossible with raw footage. Although one is distanced here by the lack of "moving" pictures, one is brought closer to the actual soldiers and the ambush, itself through their voices. Well done.

This project is very compelling, especially for someone like myself who does not really have any ties to the war overseas. I thought this project did what an article couldn't, and that was capturing the emotions of the soldiers who were part of the ambush. This was storytelling perfection.

This piece definitely did a great job illustrating the entire story of the four men who lost their lives and it did so not only tastefully, but in a way that lead to better understanding of the entire issue of illegal immigration. Well done.

This is really powerful and quite scary. I especially liked the image of the big house with the child holding the gun in the bottom left corner, because he almost blends in, but once you see him.. you see him!

I really like this site. The simple layout doesn't take away from the different categories of multimedia. I especially liked the photographs and their size.

Great work! I agree with the other comments this piece is very emotional. It also shows the discipline and attitude of the soldiers very well. He didn't slow down or pause at any time while telling this story just like they couldn't slow down or pause in real life. When we lose someone close to us sometimes it is hard to convince yourself to go on, I couldn't imagine having to fight for my life under such circumstances.

This is the best example of the first hand experience story telling. This project makes the story so much more real then if, say, a reporter would have did this, or a writer would have did a feature on this. We are currently learning about multimedia journalism in our Online Journalism class, and this is a great piece with pictures and a first hand account of what happened. It really gives the story legs. Good job with that, another step for online journalism and its another great thing that you can do online that you cant do on paper.
